US Deputy Consul-General for Shanghai Jeffrey Graham Visits Westlake University

On April 29, 2019, Mr. Jeffrey Graham, the Deputy Consul General of the US Consulate General in Shanghai visited Westlake University with his delegation. Tian XU, Vice-President of Westlake University and Chair Professor in Genetics warmly welcomed the delegation at the Yunqi Campus.




Tian XU introduced the university’s philosophy, governance system, academic development and faculty members to Mr. Graham and his delegation. He explained why Westlake University is so special. Supported by both philanthropists and the government, the University is striving to become a vanguard of higher education reform in China. Tian XU underlined that Westlake University highly values internationality and fosters research collaborations and student exchanges with universities in the United States.







In the meeting, both sides discussed talent recruitment, student cultivation and research collaboration, and gained some mutual understanding on challenges, solutions and opportunities for universities in both countries.


Mr. Graham expressed his sincere gratitude on behalf of the US Consulate General in Shanghai for the friendly reception and was impressed by the development of Westlake University.
