The four founding institutes: Institute of Biology, Institute of Basic Medical Sciences, Institute of Natural Sciences and Institute of Advanced Technology at WIAS will conduct cutting-edge research while prioritizing interdisciplinary interactions amongst biology, physics, computer sciences, engineering, and math in the meantime. 

Professor Yigong Shi serves as the leading scientist of the Institute of Biology at WIAS. The Institute strives to cultivate compound talented research talents with multi-discipline backgrounds, including biology, chemistry, and physics.

Professor Yi Rao leads the research at the Institute of Basic Medical Sciences, which is committed to carrying out basic research on biology studies and human beings in order to improve human health.

Professor Jianwei Pan leads the research at the Institute of Natural Sciences. The Institute is dedicated to the study of quantum information, Nano materials, complex analysis, pollution control theory and technology.

Professor Shiyi Chen leads the research at the Institute of Advanced Technology. It is devoted to meeting modern China’s great demand for advanced technology and innovative industry by establishing researches that across emerging disciplines.
